It is safe to say these are the Saturdays in June, July & August.

They are extremely popular for weddings on these peak summer dates and the cost to hire professional steel bands are approximately £600.00 – £700.00.

The regular dates, which are the main Fridays and Sundays in summer will cost around £550.00 plus transport charges to hire a Carribean Steel Pan Band.

During the weekdays, the standard charges are £450.00 to hire a steel band whether it is half and hour or 3 hours that include 3×45 minutes of live performance.

Many clients would say it is too expensive as they only require the Steel Band for 30 minutes, the truth is the band members still have to leave early to be at their destination, if the members have jobs, it means a day off from work. The Steel Pans need to be tuned regularly and only few expert Steel Pan tuners are available in London, and the cost for this would be approximately £50.00 – £100.00 and depending how often the pan is used , it might need to be tuned up to once a month.

As popular as Steel Pan Bands are , their overall income is nothing more than a good part-time income, and this still involves the players practising regularly and keeping their repertoire up to date even though most guests enjoy hearing the old favourites.

Steel Pan Bands are also popular in resort properties  all over the world. They are the epitome of the summer sound of relax and cool and breeze of the Carribean and white beaches of the Bahamas.

Well OK, not quiet it, but what better way if you are having some April showers or summer rain, the sound of the steel pan band can infuse that feeling of happiness, lightness and beach sand on your feet.

For almost 40 years John Thomas in various guises and bands has played the Steel Pan for thousands of people in the UK, in their sunny green gardens, or pretty marquees or hotel ballrooms, his music and his magical touch on the pan has never failed to bring that smile and feeling of summer even for a little while in the middle of winter.
